Hello Everyone,
I have been lurking on this site, as well as others for a few weeks
now. I was basically trying to get a feel for each group. This
group is so wonderful, with all the support and suggestions that are
given, without judgement.
I am scheduled to have Lap RNY on Nov. 18th, I'm hoping to move my
date up to the 13th (keeping my fingers crossed). I have done sooo
much research over the past few months, I feel like I could teach a
class. However researching and experiencing are two different
things, that is why I think it is so great to be able to come to this
wonderful group to glean info., share and receive support.
I am a little nervous about the surgery, which is natural I suppose.
My surgeon recently had a patient that died and of course that
brought things home to me real fast. I am still planning to have the
surgery, the patients death just really stood to reiterate that this
surgery is not a cakewalk and comes with some high risk. For those
people that think this surgery is "the easy way out", try talking to
those families that have lost loved ones!!
I am the mother of two young children and as of yet have not been
able to particpate much with alot of their activities such as biking,
running and playing, etc. I am looking forward to playing with my
children. I have been trying to not think about the "what if's" and
I have read some of the post on this site about writing letters to
your family members. I talked it over with my husband and we both
thought that it would be a good idea, I just have not worked up th
nerve to write them yet and just thinking about writing them brings
tears to my eyes. However, I do not want to leave here without
letting them know that I will always love them. It's something that
I will have to work out and I will look forward to the day that I can
tear them up and put them in the past!
Anyway, on to happier thoughts. I have found and tasted the Low
Carb / No Sugar Added Breyers Ice Cream and it is really good. I
found it at Meijers. They had Butter Pecan MMmmm, Vanilla and
Chocolate. I love Meijers they seem to have a little of everything.
I also found some low carb/no sugar added candy by Russell Stover
(Pecan Delights, Peppermint Patties, Chocolate Covered Toffee, etc.),
as well as other brands. I also found sugar free whole grain wheat
bread by Home Pride.
I have been changing my eating habits to fit what will become my new
lifestyle, as well as getting into the habit of taking my vitamins
and figure it would be better to begin making that new transition
now, rather than wait til after surgery.
I look forward to participating with this group and sharing
my "losing" experience, as well as sharing everyone elses.
